Fertilization strategy affects crop nutrient concentration and removal in semi‐arid U.S. Northwest

چکیده
Access to livestock manure is increasing in semi-arid cropping systems of U.S. Northwest prompting evaluation fertilization strategies on regional production systems. A study conducted from fall 2012 2019 used: fall- or spring-applied dairy (56 Mg ha−1), fall-applied composted (33 urea SUPERU (Koch Agronomic Services), and a control (n = 6) corn (Zea mays L.)–barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)–alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)–alfalfa–alfalfa rotation. The effects (a) soil nutrients, (b) crop tissue nutrient concentration removal, (c) digestibility energy content forages are discussed. Compost additions increased silage N, P, K, respectively, by 0.86, 0.28, 2.4 g kg−1 over other treatments; Ca were depressed 0.4 0.53 applications. Barley grain Premoval Kremoval 5.10 7.65 under applications relative treatments while crude protein (CP) (19.1 N kg−1) neared limits high-quality malt extract (16–19 kg−1). alfalfa K 2.3 5.5 treatments, approaching levels concern for hypocalcemia cattle (≥30 No major impact quality parameters, observed. Present Idaho removal estimates representative alfalfa, but not barley which observed was 28% lower. In 17 18 instances, contrast testing suggested differed organic amended suggesting modifiers receiving amendment may need established.

Nutrient Distribution in Flowering Stems, Nutrient Removal and Fertilization of Three Proteaceae Cultivars
Several parameters of flowering stems of two cultivars of protea Leucospermum cordifolium (Knight) Fourc (‘Succession II’ and ‘Tango’) and one of protea Protea L. (Protea susannae x magnifica ‘Susara’) were studied in different commercial plantations. These included length and weight measures, nutrient concentrations of detached parts (flower heads, leaves and stems), and removal of nutrients o...
متن کاملSlugs, willow seedlings and nutrient fertilization: intrinsic vigor inversely affects palatability
This study evaluates how preference by a generalist slug herbivore Arion subfuscus changes inversely with seedling size across three levels of fertilization for three full-sib families of willow seedlings. We analyzed seedlings for condensed tannin and protein concentration, and related these data to changes in palatability. In preference tests over time, leaf discs from more fertilized seedlin...
متن کاملP-87: High Fat Diet Affects In Vitro Maturation and In Vitro Fertilization of Mouse Oocytes
Background: Physiological effects of obesity are increasingly common in women of reproductive age and are associated with infertility. Obese women have dysfunction in hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, menstrual cycle and are up to three times more likely to have decreased oligo-/anovulation. The purpose of present study was to evaluate the high fat diet on IVM and IVF outcomes in mouse. Mate...
متن کاملRemoval of nutrient limitations by long-term fertilization decreases nocturnal water loss in savanna trees.
Under certain environmental conditions, nocturnal transpiration can be relatively high in temperate and tropical woody species. We have previously shown that nocturnal sap flow accounts for up to 28% of total daily transpiration in woody species growing in a nutrient-poor Brazilian Cerrado ecosystem. In the present study, we assessed the effect of increased nutrient supply on nocturnal transpir...
